The Gap, of Achievement

The Achievement Gap By Niklas Curle Within the schools there is a gap the gap is large, the gap is evident, and the gap is all-affecting Climbers of these gaps, the students, vary in their successes some start at the bottom, others begin part of the way up many struggle with large burdens they must carry on their journey weighed down by the stress of tests, bad teachers, lack of funding, and a lack of a Head Start inevitably, these climbers fall behind along with curriculum that simply is out of their grasp, a disconnect forms between the climbers and their teachers, a flat portion of the gap impossible to pass But then the other character of climber The one that has uncovered his or her interests and uses them As a tool to scale the wall with ease, with the support of a thousand Quiet voices, silent but cheering, cheering them on until the top Through the power of political clout and hope These climbers make it These determined scalers see their struggling sidekicks and offer them advice Stay true to your closest interests, form handholds on the rock Get teachers to develop interesting curricula, one that interests all Tell your supporters to channel their passion into lobbying and supporting the schools that follow the climbers suggestions It is a hard journey, but somebody has to fix it

Sorry folks. I had the words originally written in a much more legible manner, but unfortunately this hasn't transferred over. This'll have to do.

Oh yes. This poem is about the achievement gap and the outside effects that widen the gap. My poem names these effects and comes up with solutions to these problems.
