Blog Project poem

Blog Project Poem
Unequal
Siobhan McMahon

Millions of homeless people live on the streets
the future of America is bleak
Why does your race determine your success in life
why should you get paid more just because you’re white
The unemployment gap is as big as the grand canyon
white privilege in America runs rampant
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to everyone is what the constitution promised
they didn’t mention minorities are not included in this
Children grow up in a country that is unequal
the government doesn’t see that minorities are people
But this country does not have to be divided
we could all cohabitate peacefully if we tried this:
Be the change you want to see
treat all races equally
Speak out against racism
don’t let America be a place of discrimination
Educate the youth to grow up being tolerant
don’t let people carry out their unjust ignorance
Hope, change and equality will make the country bright
you can be the problem or the solution- its up to you to decide.

Very relevant topic! The poem clearly highlights the issues that are faced by many people today.

I really like your piece. You should consider performing this as spoken word.
